Hello February!

My work takes up so much of my day and then going to gym afterwards doesn’t leave much time in the evenings to do everything I want so spinning hasn’t been a priority lately.

I’ve been using most of my spare time practicing on my uke but this month I want to get back to spinning up this merino fleece that I started spinning in January and then start on some new spins.

It was Imbolc yesterday or the first day of Spring in the Celtic calendar but here in Australia its our last month of Summer and its getting stormy outside so I’m hoping it rains and I wont have to water my garden.

I planted some sunflower seeds last weekend and they have sprouted and grown so much in a week! I wonder if they’ll keep growing through Autumn? I hope so. I’ll transplant them out of this pot and into the garden bed soon as these ones are the giant variety.

Ok I’m off to enjoy my day, have a great Saturday xx

woops I did it again..

…oh yeh and I’m glad I did!!..

I bought these at the start of December with my Birthday money as early Christmas presents to me! They arrived today all the way from “sunny” England..

I bought them on Etsy from the lovely Caroline of The Shepherds Hut UK.. on Instagram she’s @cjpfibres

I have to say this isn’t the first time I’ve bought from Caroline and wont be the last!.. love them all so much!

Sunshine Mellow – Rambouillet, Cabbage Patch – BFL, Acorn Yellow – Finnish, Red Leaves – Rambouillet, Lemon & Lime – Superwash Merino/Nylon

time to ply!

I spun up these blue green fibres over the weekend. The blue is called Lightening – its 70% merino and 30% bamboo from Cat and Sparrow fibres, the green is called Green Jersey its 100% Shetland from The Shepherds Hut.

I’m making this yarn for a friend at work. I’m hoping it doesn’t have the barber pole effect too much when I ply it.

I also noticed on my Instagram last night that the first yarn I finished on January 1st 2018 was also made with blue and green fibres!

I need to start spinning..and stop buying!..

I’ve turned into the type of spinner that buys all these gorgeous fibres and then doesn’t have enough time on the weekend to ACTUALLY spin them!..

So no more wasting most of my weekend on Instagram..because I spend a heck of a lot of time looking at spinning, knitting, crochet, weaving etc that other fibre artists out there post.

So what did I buy… I bought some gorgeous handdyed fibres from The Shepherds Hut ..some are shetland and some are merino/bamboo..

Love em..now to spin them!

Day 8 Tour de Fleece 2018

Finally I have daylight and time to post a pic of my first finished yarn for TDF 2018. Heres Lucinda.. she measures 220.5meters, 12 to 13 wpi, weighs 90grams.

I 2plyed from 2 bobbins, one bobbin still has some single leftovers on it so I’ll add that in the next braid of this same fibre colourway that I spin, but I’m going to prep the next one different before spinning it.

Recent spins..

slack me forgetting to update my little blog as usual.. but if you want to see my handspun yarns don’t forget to pop over to my Instagram page it’s spinning_scribbles on there too..πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Š
