I’ve turned into the type of spinner that buys all these gorgeous fibres and then doesn’t have enough time on the weekend to ACTUALLY spin them!..
So no more wasting most of my weekend on Instagram..because I spend a heck of a lot of time looking at spinning, knitting, crochet, weaving etc that other fibre artists out there post.
So what did I buy… I bought some gorgeous handdyed fibres from The Shepherds Hut ..some are shetland and some are merino/bamboo..
Love em..now to spin them!
I’ve dug through my stash and decided tonight I’ll start spinning up these two braids of NZ Merino that I bought on Etsy from Heavenlywools.co.nz ..I think they’ll look good when plyed together..
I took this pic yesterday…its 324meters, 11-12wpi, Sport /Dk spun from superwash merino & polwarth/merino.. I’ve popped on a pic of the superwash merino bobbin that I plyed with my other bobbin from my previous post…
last night I spun up this merino that I dyed ages ago…not sure what fibre I’ll spin and ply this with?.. I’ll dig through my fibre stash tonight and see what I have…
Today on my way home from the gym I pulled into the pet store and bought some goldfish for my garden pond..I’m happy to report that so far all 6 are swimming around and enjoying life!
this yarn was spun with my catandsparrow fibre club rolags some finnx fleece from kathys fibres and merino I dyed…
next up I’ve bought more fibre from New Zealand from the lovely Heavenly Wools…I’ll post the fibre breeds and names when I spin them.. Have a great Sunday!✌💛
I went and visited my friend Kathy at her art studio yesterday. I’ve been so busy and so has she so we haven’t seen each other in a few months so we had plenty of gossip to share! 😉…
So while I was there I managed to get most of the rolags from my last post spun and I added some assorted blue finnx fleece to the bobbin as well. I’m going to ply it with some other fibres that I’m spinning tonight.
I spun and plyed this yarn yesterday..it’s gold orange/red and brown dyed finnxcorriedale/romney fleece.. I’m pretty happy with how squishy it is.. It’s 185grams, 123 meters 7wpi so it’s chunky.
Ugggh I’ve been finishing work late each day and by the time I get home the winter sun just hasn’t been bright enough to take a pic of my first finished TDF yarn.
I’ll pop a pic on here by the weekend.
Meanwhile look at my pretty cineraria flowers 💕💕.. this pic was taken tonight after I re-potted and watered them. I love how the water on the petals and leaves made the flowers look to me like they are a painting.
I spun up one bobbin yesterday and tonight I’ve finished spinning the second..This is the first bobbin. Tomorrow after work I’ll ply them.
More pics soon!
Day One.. deciding which of my fibres to spin first..and we have a winner..
Polwarth / Pearl 75/25..
Ready, Set, Go!🐑🚴♂️
I started this crochet blanket at least a week ago using some assorted purple and pink yarns from my mum..I’m making the pattern up as I go along..Hopefully it will look ok..I’ll go back and continue on my rainbow wave blanket soon.
This is one bag of Finn x Corridale/Romney fleece that I was prepping for Tour de Fleece, but I decided to spin it up yesterday as a test run.. It spun up so soft and squishy..
I’ve put the rest of my fleece away as I can’t trust myself not to spin it before the Tour starts..
So tonight instead of continuing on my crochet wave blanket I’ve started on another blanket that Im making with leftover assorted pink and purple yarns.. pics soon.
